These are the dog days of summer, and when the harvest season begins with the pagan celebration Lughnasadh, (/ˈluːnəsə/ LOO-nə-sə, Irish, and Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Christians call it Lammas or Loaf Mass Day. It is considered a Christian holiday celebrated in some English-speaking countries in the Northern Hemisphere on 1 August. However, most Christian holidays are Pagan in origin.
